I never thought I’d see the day where I would be giving up solid food for five days. I’m always up for a challenge, especially if it’s going to be beneficial to my health and well-being. So let me tell you a little bit about what I went through last week and it wasn’t a living hell at all contrary to what some of you may think. I’m sure those of you who have experienced this cleanse program will agree.
So why give up food for five days ? To allow the body to enter into a natural detox mode, hence cleanse the liver and intestines from all the toxins and waste. Even if you already have a healthy diet, stress (along with many other elements) will create toxins and will “intoxicate” our body. Basically, this cleansing program will detoxify your body (and mind), make your skin glow, restore your energy levels and you might loose a little bit of weight too along the way. I’ve been doing a lot of research about it and trust me, I would never ever have done if I wasn’t 100% positive about it. When I started thinking about it, many religions and cultures believe that fasting purifies the body (and soul), so it’s not a new trend that Gwyneth Paltrow has set.
Here are a few tips to make your detox worth your time and money!
- Find a week in your agenda where you have no social obligations whatsoever (wedding, parties, birthday, etc.)
- Stay away from the gym, there’s a time for everything. Right now it’s about cleansing, after your program you can think about toning your body.
- Make sure you won’t be having your period too at that time either to avoid mood swings for yourself and for the sake of the people around you! (joking).
- Make sure you’re in good shape to do this detox-program. If not, it can wait. Trust me, you’ll want 100% of your energy for that!
- Set your mind everyday on your objective and work hard to obtain your goal! It’s only 5 days! After that, you’ll feel great!
- Schedule a one hour slimming massage half-way through your program, it will help get the toxins out of your lymphatic system.
- Drinks lots of water!
I really loved Detox-Delight, it’s a worldwide franchise (which one of the other reasons that convinced me) and I cannot wait to schedule my next one in the Fall/Winter. I guess it’s one of those things you get hooked on because you simply feel so great afterwards. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and absolutely stress-free! All my juices & soup (I did the Juice&Soup delight program which consists of 4 juices per day and one soup in the evening for dinner) were delivered to my door twice a week. Everything tasted really good, honestly I was pleasantly surprised… It made the whole process a lot easier too! I had very few side-effects apart from the light headaches on day 1. Thanks again to the whole Detox-Delight team for making this a memorable life experience!
As scary as this all may sound, I know you can do it! You’ll get a little brochure with your program that will explain everything! Trust me, If I can, you can! We’re talking about me here, hello? Have we met? I love to eat, I have a low blood pressure, I’m not the athletic kind and have a weakness for macaroons or any other sweets for that matter. etc.
Here’s a little diary about how I’ve been feeling on the 5 days of my program:
DAY 1 – MONDAY
Felt a bit dizzy in the morning, thinking what the hell was I getting into! And all I could think of was burgers, pizza, and pastries. All the greasy/fatty stuff you feel like eating. I experienced a light headache after lunch time, I wasn’t drinking enough water and all the toxins where rushing through my body, it’s a normal side-effect. This was by far, the hardest day of all. Couldn’t wait to go to sleep and forget about it!
DAY 2 – TUESDAY
Woke up with a lot of energy and it was extremely easy to get out of bed to go to work, which isn’t often the case! It was a nice and sunny day so that also put me in a good mood. All my cravings were gone… Saw people eating in front of me and didn’t feel tempted at all because I was feeling already “fulfilled” and no side-effects on that day! It really got me thinking about how we are taught to believe that not eating will weaken you, but my body experienced it and I never felt so good in my own skin, already on day 2 (some people feel better on day 3-4). Lot of energy in the evening, couldn’t fall asleep easily.
DAY 3 – WEDNESDAY
The day went by beautifully. Still no cravings… I had a lymphatic massage and therefore felt a little tired so I lied down for a little bit. I was off from work in the afternoon, so I worked on other stuff from home with the Detox-Delight herbal tea (comes with your program).
DAY 4 – THURSDAY
It’s almost over! On that day, I was really looking forward to the end and as I started thinking about what I was going to eat over the weekend, I couldn’t come up with one thing! It almost felt like the detox had reset all my cravings! You know what they say, (by they, I mean nutritionist), sugar is addictive and cells have a damn good memory! Avoiding sugar during the program has made me crave less sweets today after my detox. I’m amazed! Didn’t think anyone could “cure” me! Hahaha.
DAY 5 – FRIDAY
Feeling great and excited. Glowing skin (no foundation needed) and hair are super shiny! It must be related… All day I started thinking about what I would eat over the weekend and then i realized that I could physically continue the detox program for another 2-5 days if I could! Amazing feeling!
POST – DETOX
I feel great, my taste and appetite has changed to the better and I try to eat small portions and drink a lot of water… baby steps! I’d also like to hightlight that I’ve noticed an improvement on my allergies, it must be related!
